Question by ♥IHaveAWand♥: What Is The Book “Music Of Dolphins” About?
I’m thinking about reading it. Thx!

Best answer:

Answer by TayTay0o7
Karen Hesse’s The Music of Dolphins, published in 1996, tells the story of Mila, a feral child raised by dolphins and rehabilitated by humans. Told in first-person narration from Mila’s point of view, the story begins in a hesitant, halting voice, written with large print and short sentences, slowly progressing to a more confident, flowing narration with complex syntax as Mila becomes comfortable with human language.

Mila is discovered by humans on an island near Cuba. She has been living with dolphins ever since her plane crashed when she was a young girl. When she is first found, Mila does not speak any human language, and only makes dolphin sounds. She is taken to a special rehabilitation center for undersocialized children who do not have language skills.

Under the tutelage of her doctors, Sandy and Dr. Beck, Mila learns to speak and act more like a human. She misses her dolphin family but believes that once she “makes progress” and learns human ways, the doctors will let her return to the sea.

Living in the house with her is another feral child, Shay. Severely abused and neglected, Shay never developed language skills because she was kept locked in a dark room. For a while, Shay seems to progress, speaking a limited vocabulary and laughing and playing with Mila. However, Shay soon regresses and shuts down into herself, while Mila continues to learn language and finds a deep love and connection to music.

Mila’s longing for her dolphin family and home begins to overwhelm her; she longs to leave the human world that she begins to see as a prison. The only person that seems to understand her is Justin, Dr. Beck’s son, who Mila thinks would make a good mate, if only he were a dolphin. Homesick and depressed, Mila regresses, losing her facility with human language from lack of interest. The format of the book changes, the font growing larger and sentences becoming shorter as Mila struggles to return to the dolphins.

In the end, this beautiful and poignant novel proves that family and home can come in all forms, as Mila returns to the sea to live freely with her dolphin family.

Caring about your children also means being aware of what they do online.  Be sure to monitor their love of music but also their internet usage.  Webwatcher is a great program for this, and you can use a webwatcher discount code to save money.  Kids always need another music book!

CONTINUE READING, SHEET MUSIC TO BE FOUND BELOW. Based on the movie version. I know it’s not perfect. I don’t care if you think I’m playing too fast. Sheet music can be found here: pelli.webng.com To all of you guys asking for a tutorial: This, together with the sheet music, IS the tutorial. You see and read which keys should be pressed and you hear roughly how it is supposed to sound. You don’t have to understand all symbols in the sheet music, just find which keys to press (which in my opinion any decent pianist should know how to do) and ignore the rest. If you need to have a piano piece zoomed-in and narrated in slow motion to learn it, you’re just not ready yet. /pellishau 2008-07-01

Question: Question for gemini sun and moon signs?
The question is do you find yourself reading a book but drifting off into thoughts about other things and imaginings, and just over all not being able to pay attention for a long time to books?
I have this problem, I am trying to read the last of this book “black boy” by Richard Right and it’s so boring but even with interesting stories I find myself reading the book but not reading it because I’m thinking about other things, like I can be reading the words and thinking about something else while listening to classical music(hard to listen to music and read with words in the songs). So is this just like a gemini thing, also state ur sun, moon, and rising sign

Sheet music began as musical notations written on clay tablets by ancient Babylonians. It was used by the ancient Greeks, survived the Dark Ages, and became an important musical force during the Renaissance Period. With the advent of the printing press, printed sheet music affected the music industry in ways unimaginable by past generations. Yes, the history of sheet music is a long one, at least four thousand years, and it has been a story of evolution and growing dissemination. Yet if all those ancient musicians could see the form that sheet music has taken today, they would find it impossible to fathom. In modern times, sheet music has, like most other forms of communication, joined the digital age.

Beginning in the end of the 20th century, there was a great deal of interest in representing sheet music in a computer-readable format, as well as downloadable files. Software that can “read” scanned sheet music, called music optical character recognition (music OCR), has existed since 1991. Needless to say, this software created a completely new manner of dissemination for sheet music which, in this format, was referred to as virtual sheet music.

Further progress was made in 1998 when virtual sheet music became digital sheet music. The difference between the two is that digital sheet music, for the first time, allows copyrighted sheet music to be purchased via the internet. Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, digital sheet music files can be manipulated and altered as their virtual and hardcopy counterparts never could. Such an attribute makes digital sheet music ideal for instrument changes, transposition, and even musical instrument digital interface, or “midi,” playback. Digital sheet music is the musical notation of the 21st century. It’s like the advent of the voice over internet telephone, it changed the way we talk. Using a ringcentral referral code we could sign up for a digital phone service and keep everything we have online.

The popularity of digital sheet music has revitalized the sheet music industry, which has been languishing since the invention of the phonograph. Digital sheet music has even made inroads into professional orchestras, which are perhaps one of the most traditional remaining arenas of printed sheet music. In 1999, an electronic system for the coordination of orchestral music was invented by Harry Connick, Jr. This system uses a device with a screen to display the musicians’ sheet music. The advantages of not having to use traditional sheet music during a performance, when the rustle of paper can be very distracting, are easy to see. Other musicians and software engineers continue to experiment with the digital display of sheet music.

Digital sheet music has made musical notation available on a scale the likes of which its creators could never have dreamed. It is the future of sheet music, and no where is this more apparent than with the Mutopia project. Mutopia is a volunteer-run effort to create a library of free content digital sheet music, which is reproduced from old scores that are out of copyright. Although there are only about 1400 pieces of music available at present, this project is makes it easy to imagine that there will come a time in the foreseeable future when digital music libraries will be very, very extensive indeed.

Question: I think i’ve been encountered by a ghost?!?
I started reading the book “Ghosts Among Us” because my sister and I have really been getting into ghosts and stuff. I straighten my hair in the mornings and tuck the cord under my vanity before i go to school. I came home and went to bed and when I woke up, my cord was stretched all the way across my room. A few nights later I went to bed at 10 and I couldn’t fall asleep. At about 11:30 I started to drift away into sleep when my teddy bear started playing its music….This is a ceramic teddy bear with the music player inside so it weighs about 2-4 pounds, It takes effort to move. (this is also on my dresser far away from my bed) It started playing so I jumped out of bed and turned on my light and it was still playing!! I ran into my parents room crying because I was so scared and my mom jumped out of bed because we could still hear it. As soon as my mom entered through my doorway it stopped…..what the hell is going on!?!?!?
You have to pick it up and wind it up at the bottom! You have to wind it a few times to get it to play that long too, that’s why I was so scared. My dad said it could be change in temperature that caused the spring to move and play, but if it was that then it only would have played one note!!! And nothing else really has happened.
I know I’m not supposed to be scared and right now I’m not scared at all. I want it to happen now, but when its night time and I’m alone and it really does happen then I just get so frightened but I don’t want to be but I cant stop myself. That’s weird though, why would it like to play with my things? and I don’t feel that my dads explanation was correct, I think there is something there. Which I’m ok with as long as its not purposely trying to scare me. I don’t usually see shadows, I have once but sometimes my room does get randomly cold.

That’s creepy! Ok, so here are my thoughts…
1.) you have been really getting into ghost stuff, and you are really into it and have seen a lot of shows, websites, et cetera about it. Subconsciously, your mind is now imagining paranormal activity because of reading so much about it, and it is though your mind wants in a way to encounter some paranormal activity therefore these incidents that have logical explanations, are taken as paranormal. Following? Your mind could possibly be imagining this stuff. However…..
2.) the Teddy bear thing is quite unusual. My question to you is how do you manually turn it on? Is there a button? It seems like like a ghost may have taken part in this. But I need to know how the Teddy bear music usually turns on to think of an explanation. Can you let me know? Also, let me know I’d there has been any more incidents. Thanks!!

Question: Is Madonna (the singer) a feminist icon?
I understand that Madonna has come under fire for her sexual songs and prerogative performances throughout her career with many early feminist critics attacking her hyper-sexualised persona.

I argue however, that Madonna never posed as a ‘sex doll’ of a character. She was the one demanding sexual pleasure not serving her male lovers wants but satisfying her own wants and needs. Even when playing a submissive role in her book “Sex” she always seemed in control.

It seems to me that these “feminist” critics are not actually fighting for equality but are instead fighting for a new standard that women are supposed to live by. (Oh my, a real lady cannot go outside so scantly dressed! she is terribly promiscuous! She should save herself for her man!)

I wonder then what the difference is between Madonna and other musical icons such as David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury, Led Zeppelin etc. all known as much for their sexuality, groupies and sexualised performances as much as their music.

Thank you for your opinions:)

Answer:

Answer by Sammy
Well the media wants women to dress provocatively for music videos and for tv. This has been gradually getting worse since the sexual revolution, I think in the 60s or 70s. I don’t know if madonna is a true feminist or not but she does seem to be a feisty woman lol. I think people just see her as a singer who has done more in her life than just sing which many of them do.

The reason why people attacked her hyper oversexed persona then was because it was kind of new to them then.
