Since italics don’t appear on this site, no one’s going to be able to answer questions 1 or 3. For the other three, however, all you need to know is that the title of a poem, song, short story, one-act play, or article should be in quotation marks, and the title of a book should be in italics.

Question: Can you please explain to me what this means?
this little piece of text comes from the book “The Medusa and the Snail” It talks about errors and how its part of humans doing so. but i have to defend or challenge this piece of texts that i will give but i dont understand what do they mean.

“What is needed, for progress to be made, is the move based on the error.”

now this quote…what does it mean?

“Whenever new kinds of thinking are about to be accomplished, or new varieties of music, there has to be an argument forehand.”

Answer:

Answer by Just
First bit probably means to learn from mistakes (errors)
Second bit – there has to be pro and cons and testing (argument) of any new theory before a statement can be made.

So the first one “what is needed, for progress to be made, is the move based on the error”

When you mess up/error you have to act, you have to make a “move” as the quote says, based on how you messed up to progress anywhere. So if you mess up the only way to progress/ succeed is to act/move. and everything you progress to is based on that one movement. :)

basic answer, when you mess up the only way you can succeed is to act on what every you messed up on.

now the second one “Whenever new kinds of thinking are about to be accomplished, or new varieties of music, there has to be an argument forehand.”

Okay, this one is telling you that when ever a new idea is put forward before it can be accepted (accomplished) it has to be argued over, debated if you will. Before something new is accepted by you or anyone else they have to argue the idea out, explore the pro’s and con’s. Like a theory in Science has to be argued and tested by other scientists before it can be accepted as fact. That’s the basic idea any way.

hope this helps, I can clarify my answers more if need be

Sometimes progress results from having to cope with obstacles in one’s path or unexpected contingencies.

Where there is innovation, there is some kind of departure from the norm, a disagreement with the way in which things are done at present.

Question: Please help me with My “book”?
I know this is not a poem but i didn’t know what other place to ask this question, I know it long and may have bad grammar SORRY! Aha and please DO NOT “steal” my idea I’m Simply asking for some help. Thank You I have to title for the book yet.

Chapter one:Sweeping over the living-
Depression is a mental health disorder that affects the way you eat and sleep, the way you feel about yourself, and the way you think about things. People with a depressive illness cannot merely “pull themselves together” and get better. Thats what all the doctors told me anyway. But I have always thought i hade something really wrong with me. I tried to act some what okay at school but everyone knew I was a loser. I hade no real friends I just sat in my room blasting my music while drawing or even just laying there. My mom bought me Anti-depressant Medication, but i never took it. The rain poured heavily from the gray thing we call the sky, heavy clouds and blinding flashes of lightning followed by turbulent crashes of thunder filled the sky above me. Despite the temper of the raging storm, I felt no hint of concern. If I die I die right? I looked down to see a Horrible thing.. My reflation. “Why am i still alive” I guess i hade a little bit of hope in myself, but I lost that feeling more and more each day. After finally reaching the place I depise the most or as some call it School. I walked in and sat down in the cafe. When it rains like this we all have to site in the cafe intill classes start. Sitting by myself was pretty normal for me. But on days like this i sat with “vampires”. Now we arn’t really vampires, we are just pale and wear dark clothing. But being an imortal creature would be fine by me. Hiding from the light but by dawn drinking the blood of any fithly mortal that catches my red eyes. Now just because i hang out with them around school dosen’t mean im to crazy about them, they can be kinda funny but i never tell them anyting. The deafening sound of the Rogation bell rang I mean school bell. The Rogation bell that was rung to mark the death of a craftsman or tradesman (also used to call people to church). I was into Funerals and stuff. My first class was gym, so I skiped and hung out near the water fountain that was right in the center of the school. I was working on a drawing i have been working on for about a week now. The art work was of a Cematary. But it was not yet complete. Kid rused out of the class rooms, going to there lockers. So i walked down the hall to my next class. Music class wasn’t horrible but we did nothing that made me smile. I played Bass, not to good but thats what i picked. As you can see i hated school or as i like to call it an Academy …. possibly a bit old, but i liked the name. The rest of the day was pretty normal. Finally the day ended and i headed home. The rain was even heaver then before. As i took a short cut through the Cematary i sat on the bench. The bench was cold and wet but like i even cared, i looked to the far right to see a creepy old tree so i began to sketch it out. Now it began to get dark and to tell you the truth I was a bit afraid of the dark. Maybey it wasen’t the dark, but when dark falls I must shut my eyes. Most people dream of happy things but not me horrible images fill my mind. As my eyes shut the horror began. Im stading in the dark woods as i walk up to a casket. I finally open it to see my beautiful mother. Then more casket show up. Inside are my family members and some of my so called friends. Then the middle casket opened with this black figure comes out. I slowly step back. The figure comes to me and i fall with blood on the ground. Then hand no claws grip my throught and i can’t breath. This Old man walked over to me with a knife and puts it to my throught. As I scream and yell but.. nothing. H..ELP HEL HELP. As the blade is cutting i feel someone shaking me while yelling my name “Dani,Dani hunny wake up” I could hear my poor mother scream. I finally awaken but i spin over and fall right on the floor. Hitting my head of the table next to my bed. I didn’t feel pain but my mother eyes filled with sorrow. Blood was coming down my face i could taste it. She sat on the ground and put her arms around me. I guess the only thing i loved in life was my family, My mother was very kind to me she was so pretty and gentle. And my fater died when I was little but I do have a step dad. My fater did die when I was young. Passed away of Cancer. Cancer seems to get every loved one it can get it’s diseased paws on. I remember my dad being really funny. Ever mornig he would make some wacy break-fast. I could still feel him in my heart I knew he was no longer with us but some how I feel he watches my from above. But I don’t realy belive in God or hevean or hell. But I dunno I guess when someone dies that you love you image him or her being looked after by someone or just to know there happy and safe. My life was simple, I just hated myself.. I try to show that I lov

Wow. That was amazing! You have really great descriptions of things. I especially like your descriptions of rain and depression. It’s sad, but in a beautiful kind of way. Your main character seems very relatable, and I would definitely want to hear more about them and their struggles. And I could still read it easily, even with the grammar and spelling, so that doesn’t really matter. This is a great start to what I’m sure will be a great story. Good luck! =)
